Following a rigorous application process, Environmental Choice was invited to present at the New Zealand Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE) Conference.
Environmental Choice’s Francesca Lipscombe gave the presentation to keen attendees at Auckland University’s Business School on 10 February. The attendees represented environmental and sustainability educators, supporters and youth as well as local government, community groups and non-profit organisations.
The presentation focused on how the Environmental Choice specifications are developed including the guiding principles, key criteria and the legal requirements.
Francesca provided an overview of life cycle assessment using a case study. She discussed consumer demand for sustainable products, services and processes and examined the role of businesses in providing sustainable products, services and processes.
The presentation was well received with thoughtful questions and comments from the audience. One audience member said “I always look for the Environmental Choice label!” That was certainly a confidence boost that awareness was growing.
Environmental Choice aims to continue to share information about life-cycle assessment, sustainability and ecolabelling to build momentum in this space.
